I’m an art consultant and artist based in Brooklyn, NYC. I am self-taught and have learned through real life experience as an art consultant and creative placemaking manager for large real estate developers and non-profit arts organizations. I have curated and project managed over fifty public art projects and creative experiences including murals, sculptures, and creative workshops.

My mission is to get more art commissions for women and people of color artists in their own communities so we can keep creating art and culture in the places we live and work.

The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.

Why macramé?
My mom did macramé. My grandma did macramé. Not sure if my great-grandma did macramé, but it’s possible.  Macramé was a fad in the 70s and has been around for centuries. There are examples of macramé, or textiles made from knots, in almost every culture and it’s been used for all kinds of things, from utilitarian needs (like tying up a boat) to luxury decor items (like those wall hangings you keep seeing on Instagram). I got interested in macramé because I wanted to learn a new textile skill and had been doing many of the techniques in other crafts already.
I don’t have time to macramé.
If you have time to tie your shoes, you have time to macramé. You can do a small portion of the project every day. Plus, doing macramé will help you slow down and, might I say, feel more sane. There’s a lot going on right now. Take some time for yourself to relax and get some stress relief through tying cord into knots. Over and over and over again.
I don’t have space.
The macramé plant hanger project can be hung up in your closet, so if you have a closet, you have space. Once you’re done with it, it can be hung up anywhere in your home or office.
I’m not creative. I’ll never be able to do this.
I've heard this so many times, and I've heard the exact opposite after every one of my workshops. Trust me! Try the course. Ask me if you need help. Little by little, you’ll feel more creative. Especially when you’ve created your own plant hanger! I believe everyone can be creative, it just takes a little practice. Enjoy!
